2012 Spin Drums

Good-bye 2011!  Hello 2012!  Time for a New Year’s Eve Party and to make some NOISE at midnight!!  Here is a fun craft made with household supplies for your kiddos to make to celebrate the new year!Things you will need:  plastic container with lid,string,pencil,scissors,crayons,masking tape,washers or nuts,glue,construction paper,stickers/decorationFirst,invite your best friends over!  Here are Annika and Logan with their buddies Braxton and Presley.  Then,cut strips of construction paper to wrap around the containers.  Have the kids color them then glue around the container!Using scissors,poke 3 holes in the container–two directly across from each other and one hole half way between the other two holes.  Insert pencil in middle hole.Then,insert string through holes,wrapping around the pencil. Secure the string around the pencil with tape.Tie washers/nuts/large beads to the ends of the string.Place lid on top of the container,forming a drum and decorate the top!  Using the pencil as the handle,rub your hands together to spin the drum,causing the nuts to hit the sides of the drum and make some party noise!10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1…Happy New Year!
