Grandma Belinda has passed some yummy recipes onto our family but the Apple Cake with Carmel Sauce is one of the best. It just melts in your mouth!Cake Ingredients: 3/4 cups butter, 2 Cups sugar, 2 eggs, 2 Cups flour, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. vanilla, 4 C. peeled and finely chopped apples
Carmel Sauce Ingredients: 3/4 Cups butter, 3/4 Cups sugar, 3/4 Cups brown sugar, 3/4 Cups heavy whipping cream, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla.Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.Add cinnamon, soda, salt, and nutmeg to sugar mixture.Add flour. Mix well. Fold in apples.Don’t forget to taste the apples with your little helpers!Pour into well greased cake pan and bake at 350º for 40-50 minutes. Cool 5 minutes–delicious served warm with carmel sauce drizzled on top.For carmel sauce, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla in a sauce pan.Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Spoon over warm cake servings.
