First,cut up meat and brown in pan. You will want to let it brown quite a bit–it will make your gravy the right color in the end.
While it is browning,slice carrots…
Let the meat continue browning…
And dice potatoes.
The meat is ready for the next step!
Add Worcestershire sauce…
Garlic powder…
Onions…
Bay Leaves…
Paprika…
Pepper…
Salt…
Sugar…
And a dash of Allspice or Cloves.
Add enough water to cover the meat. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
Now,add the carrots to cook for 30 minutes or so.
Add potatoes to the carrots for the last 20 minutes.
Now it’s time to thicken the meat juice. Pour meat juice into separate pot. Combine cornstarch with water and slowly add to meat juice,stirring constantly.
It will thicken within 2-3 minutes. If it doesn’t,add more of the cornstarch mixture. Add meat and veggies.
Pour into bowl and enjoy!
