The 4th of July is always so much fun–backyard barbeques,family and friends,and fireworks! Here is a delicious dessert for your red,white,and blue theme that your family will just love!
Ingredients: 4 cups blueberries,1 cup sugar,1/4 cup lemon juice,1/3 cup cornstarch,and a double pie crust
Mix together berries,sugar and lemon juice in a large sauce pan.
Stir continuously until it begins to boil.
Add cornstarch and stir until the filling thickens (this only takes a few seconds!).
Pour into unbaked pie crust.
For added 4th of July fun,roll out the dough for the top crust. Use star shaped cookie cutters to cut stars out of the dough. Don’t forget to use those dough scraps to make Pie Crust Cookies!
Place stars on top of the blueberry filling.
Bake at 400º for 35 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm or cold or a la mode! Happy 4th of July!
