Clutter in the Car

After feeling like my car was just another closet where we kept our junk,I decided it was time to organize!  All it took was the purchase of two things:a cute container and a trash can!!

“Mommy,I need a drink!”  “Mommy,I’m bored!”  “Achoo!  Mommy,I need a kleenex!”  “Mommy,I’m hungry!”  Am I the vending machine?    It seems the second we leave our house and enter the van,we are in need of something.  There are so many necessities as we drive from gymnastics to the grocery store to piano lessons to football and then back home.  Instead of searching through the junk rolling around in the floorboard of the car,buy a cute container to hold the most requested and most needed items!  In our car container we keep:

  • kleenex
  • babywipes
  • a bottle of water/juice box
  • snack
  • coupons–leave them in the car and you will always have them when you get to the store
  • pad of paper/pens/colored pencils (not crayons because they melt in the sun) for those moments of boredom
  • car chargers for the phone
  • baggie of coins
  • hand sanitizer
  • bandaids
  • extra diaper/pull-up
  • umbrella

My kids always seem to have a wrapper,a school paper,an empty juice box–something that needs to be put in the trash or else lost under the seat forever!  A trash can kept right between the front chairs of the van is a great spot because everyone can reach it without me having to do the awkward reach to the backseat, looking at oncoming traffic out of the corner of my eye, tippy toes barely pushing on the gas pedal, fingertips barely gripping that unwanted wad of gum from my kid’s mouth to the trash!  Every time we collect the trash for trash day,the van trash goes with it!
