Green Bean Casserole

This green bean casserole recipe has been around so long that I don’t remember not having it.  It was a staple in our house growing up.   (So were my EARLY morning piano practices that Amanda woke up to each day but that’s another story…love you Manda Jane!)

Every time we make it for someone, they always ask for the recipe because it’s a nice twist on the traditional recipe.  So,if you’re looking for something a little different than the fried-onion-topped green bean casserole, try this out!

What you’ll need:

Butter,Flour,Salt,Pepper,Sugar,Onion Powder,Sour Cream,Green Beans,Cheese,and Cornflake Crumbs

First,melt butter.

Then, add flour to it and cook until bubbly to make a roux.

Remove from heat and stir in salt…

Pepper…

Sugar…

and Onion Powder.

Then,add the sour cream.

The cream mixture should look like this.

Drain the green beans and add to the cream mixture.

Spread mixture into your sprayed casserole dish.

Top with cheese.

Combine more melted butter with cornflake crumbs.

Add on top of the cheese.

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes and enjoy!

This also goes great with the BBQ Chicken and Pear Salad!
