Leftover Halloween Candy

Whew!  So are your kids still on a sugar high?  We had such a fun evening trick-or-treating but now there is SO MUCH candy!!!As kids,Mom would let us eat as much Halloween candy as our hearts desired, and I have to admit I love spoiling my kids in this way too!  However,I know they get WAY too much candy so we came up with a few ways to use leftover or the surplus or Halloween candy.

First, send it to the troops overseas or even at a military base close to your house.  The men and women that serve our country LOVE receiving mail!  Write a little note, have your kiddos draw a picture, fill the box with all the leftover candy, and ship it off!  Our soldiers and Marines enjoy handing out candy to kids in war-torn countries just make sure to put all chocolate candy in baggies so it does not melt all over everything else in your box! (*Send us a note if you need an address to a soldier/Marine)

Second, donate it to your church’s bus ministry!  What a great ministry to be able to show visitors at your church how much Christ’s family loves them by giving them a special treat as they leave the bus after a morning of worship!

Third, make brownie pizza!  Bake a normal box of brownies according to directions.  Cool completely.  Spread frosting on top.  Drizzle hot fudge and/or caramel sauce.  Top with chopped candy bars!  Yummy!  Yummy!  Melts in your mouth!

Fourth, give the leftover candy to your child’s school teacher.  Most teachers have a treasure box in their room and appreciate receiving prize donations!

Fifth, freeze it!  Most candy bars can freeze!  Put the unwrapped candy into freezer baggies and tuck it into your freezer!  When the other Halloween candy has been eaten, pull out your baggie for family movie night!  Your hubby will appreciate your thriftiness!

Finally, take it to work!  Get a cute little candy bowl and leave it on your desk or in the break room!  Your fellow employees will enjoy the sweet treat!

Happy eating!
